2022 “Smile World” International Photography Awards

The Smile World International Photography Award, founded by the Smile World International Photography Union (SWIPu), is one of the best photography competitions in the world. 

The Smile World International Photography Award focuses on professionalism and humanism. 

The purpose of the award is to let people truly understand the power and significance of images. The smiling world will closely connect people, convey love and warmth, and jointly create a better future.

Eligibility

  • The competition is open to amateur and professional photographers all over the world who are 18 years and over.

  • No restrictions concerning shooting equipment (DSLR, Mirrorless DC, Cellphone, Drone, VR camera, Action camera, etc)

  • This is a digital image only exhibition.

 

Calendar

  • Entry Start: September 1, 2022

  • Regular Deadline: January 15, 2023

  • Jury: Mid March 2023

  • Sending Raw and high resolution files (email notification): Mid April 2023

  • Winners Announcement: End of May 2023

 

Categories

A. Portrait of People (a person or a group of people, which can be close-up or include the background environment)

B. Beauty of Nature (show us the great nature itself. Including plant and animal, from the smallest living organism to the largest mammal, both on land and in the oceans)

C. Street and Documentary (real record of people's life and work, either on the street or elsewhere)

D. Attractive Landscape (including natural landscape, urban landscape, etc.)

 

Prizes

Total prize $22,000 in 2022

  • Gold Award (one winner in each category, 4 in total), each winner gets $1,200, certificate of award, showcase in online gallery

  • Silver Award (two winners in each category, 8 in total), each winner gets $800, certificate of award, showcase in online gallery

  • Bronze Award (three winners in each category, 12 in total), each winner gets $500, certificate of award, showcase in online gallery

  • Excellent Awards (12 winners in each category, 48 in total), each winner gets $100, certificate of award, showcase in online gallery

The prize money shall be subject to the existing tax law and the legally established withholding taxes shall be applied.

 

Details

1. Single image or portfolio (between 2-10 images). Entrants may enter as many times as they wish. Color / Monochrome images are accepted.

2. Image size: between 3000 - 8000 pixels on the length, image should be minimum 5MB, maximum 20MB,  saved as a jpg and keep EXIF information. Each image must have a unique title with maximum 35 characters.

3. You may use digital manipulation to optimize an image.

PERMITTED: brightness, contrast, levels, curves and color balance may all be adjusted. Dust spots and minor elements etc. may be retouched. You may make adjustments to selected areas on an image. Images could be cropped and sharpened. Panorama, HDR image is permitted.

NOT PERMITTED: Adding or removing key elements of the composition other than by cropping. Montage of multiple images.

4. We encourage participants to submit images that have never won prizes. If your images enter the final judgement, those that have not won prizes in other competitions will have more chances to win prizes.

5. Entrants who are shortlisted will be required to provide the original image file (RAW or jpg as shot) along with the high resolution version (Tiff or jpg) of their image for final judging. Participants will have 15 days to upload their files. If you know in advance that you will be out of reach within those days, please contact the organization in advance. If the raw file not be presented, then the image will be disqualified and Image will be rejected if it is not complying with the required format standards.

6. Participants warrant that his/her entry images are original, do not infringe on any third part‘s rights, and that participant has obtained any necessary permissions from any third party if a third party or third party’s property appears in the photograph. Smile World International Photo Awards reserves the right to disqualify any entry if it finds in its sole discretion that any of the foregoing warranties are not true.  Participants are responsible for the resolution of any legal issues arising from their submitted images and agree to pay any costs thereby incurred. Decisions of Smile World International Photo Awards shall be final and binding.

7. Judges, officers and sponsor and their immediate family members , spouse, parents, children, siblings etc.are not eligible to enter.

8. The information given in these rules is correct, but organizer reserves the right to change any of them without prior notice. The revised rules will be posted in this section of the website, and it is the entrants’ sole responsibility to review this section and to abide by the rules of the awards. By signing their entry form, or completing online entry, entrants will confirm that they have read and agreed to be bound by the rules of the competition. Any breach of these rules by an entrant will void their entry. If a breach has occurred, but is discovered after the award of a prize, then the organizer may disqualify that entry and request the return of that prize.

 

Entry Fee

There is no limit to the number of images. Photo story and single photos can be submitted at the same time.

$30(USD) for up to 10 single image submissions in any category. If more photos are submitted, an additional $2(USD) will be paid for each image (for example, if 11 images are submitted, 32 USD = 30 USD + 2 USD will be paid).

$15(USD) for 1 Photo Story submission (2-10 images).

GROUP/CLUB ENTRIES

Please first register as a group on the registration webpage

The group must consist of at least 5 entrants.
A discount of will be given to all group/club entries:
5-9 Entrants: 10%
10 -14 Entrants: 20%
15+ Entrants: 30%

Those who do not pay the fee will be deemed to be automatically disqualified. Once a submission fee has been paid, there are no refunds provided.

Contest Judges

In order to ensure the fairness and openness of the competition, 5 judges from 5 countries are invited to give anonymous scores. Selection and assessment of the images by the jury is irrevocable.

Copyright

Each participant owns the copyright of the submitted images. With the objective of publicizing the contest, the organizer reserves the non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, make public, publicly transmit, display, print, distribute, adapt, and screen entries with the participant titles on websites and official social networking service accounts as well as in photo exhibitions, camera- related events, without further compensation to or the additional prior consent of the participants. Without the approval of the participant, submitted images in the smile world international photography awards are not allowed to be sold.
