KICK-START YOUR WEEKEND WITH AFTER-HOURS ART AND ENTERTAINMENT
Defy logic and escape from reality this First Friday with guest curator and Adelaide Biennial artist Shaun Gladwell. Shaun engages in a wide range of institutional and emerging 'movement languages' such as dance, skateboarding, BMX riding, and digitally generated activity. This First Friday we invite the skateboarding community to get involved in an epic battle of S.K.A.T.E, non-skaters are needed to cheer on the participants! Get down and jam in the courtyard with DJ Tr!p or take yourself to another world with one of Gladwell’s VR films. Experience a collision of cultures and dance through the Gallery to Shaun’s playlist or learn something new about contemporary art on a tour with a Gallery Guide.
From 4pm
The Game of S.K.A.T.E
Adelaide Biennial artist Shaun Gladwell engages in a wide range of 'movement languages' such as dance, skateboarding and BMX riding. The art of skateboarding requires cat-like reflexes, fearlessness and the ability to defy gravity. Witness a game of S.K.A.T.E where participants attempt to perform each other’s tricks in succession until all, but one player is eliminated. Local skaters Matty Charles and Zack Lycos will be our MC's and there is a prize for the last person standing, donated by our friends at Daily Grind.
