Ramsay Art Prize
A $100,000 ART PRIZE SUPPORTING CONTEMPORARY AUSTRALIAN ARTISTS UNDER 40.
Entries for the Ramsay Art Prize are now open. Held every two years, the $100,000 acquisitive prize invites submissions of new or recent work by Australian artists under the age of 40 working in any medium, including sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, installation and time-based art.
Presented by AGSA since 2017, the prize is generously supported by the James & Diana Ramsay Foundation in perpetuity. Embodying the values of James and Diana Ramsay’s legacy, the Ramsay Art Prize strongly supports contemporary Australian artists at a pivotal moment in their careers.
Finalists will be selected by a national judging. In 2023, the panel of experts is comprised of Aaron Seeto, Director of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Nusantara, Jakarta; Perth-based visual artist and creative producer Erin Coates; and Nici Cumpston OAM, Artistic Director of Tarnanthi: Festival of Contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art and Curator of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art at the Art Gallery of South Australia.
All works selected as finalists will be exhibited in a major Exhibition at AGSA from 27 May to 27 August 2023. The winner will be announced at the official opening on Friday 26 May 2023 and their work will be acquired into the Gallery’s collection.
The Ramsay Art Prize 2023 finalist exhibition will include a People’s Choice Prize supported by sponsor LK. The People’s Choice Prize is a non-acquisitive cash prize of $15,000 chosen by a public vote.
Entries close 5pm, Friday 16 December 2022 (Adelaide local time).
