Day 1 Film: Have you purchased a film SLR camera (or wish to purchase one), but don’t know what to do with it? This “crash course” is for those who want to know everything about their 35mm camera in just one day.
Day 2 Darkroom: This “crash course” is for those who want to know all of the essentials about processing and printing black and white film. You will first learn to process the B&W film you have already previously exposed last week and brought to class.
Cost for each course individually is $315 or Enrol in both at the same time and save $50.

Class Prerequisites
None except to have a 35mm film camera (SLR preferred). For day 2 please bring along some already exposed and unprocessed B&W film to this workshop - call us for advice if unsure. Bring a notebook and pen, and all notes will be supplied.

Required Materials
Please bring your lunch and (for day two your exposed Black and White film ready for processing). A few pieces of thin card, some masking tape, scissors, a note pad and pen will be useful. A suitable quantity of photographic paper for making prints will be provided and included in the cost of this workshop. More may be purchased at CCP if required.

Day 1: Crash Course Film
Have you purchased a film SLR camera (or wish to purchase one), but don’t know what to do with it? This “crash course” is for those who want to know everything about their 35mm camera - but only have one day to do it! You will find out about your camera, lenses, controlling movement, focusing, flash and film selection. You will discuss exposure and basic composition. The ultimate goal of this workshop is to help you understand how the camera sees so that you can work creatively with yours.
Day 2: Darkroom
This “crash course” is for those who want to know everything about processing and printing Black and White film but only have one day to do it! You will first learn to process the B&W film you have already previously exposed last week and brought to class. You will then learn how to safely make up to 20 x 25 cm. enlargements from the negatives you have developed. Find out about darkroom equipment, film and chemistry, contrast controls, exposure controls, test-strips and print finishing. Have fun while you learn about enlargers, timers, easels, and just how inexpensive and easy it can be to set up your own home darkroom.
