Required Materials

Weather-appropriate clothing is a must, so check the weather to make sure you have the right clothes. Wear sturdy footwear appropriate for walking long distances.

Bring along your lunch and drinks in case local shops are not open. If you are in the mood for a cheese plate Magpie Springs should be able to provide this, but you will probably need to book this ahead of time.

Bring your own digital SLR camera and a selection of lenses if available, along with plenty of spare memory cards and batteries. Film users are very welcome; please bring spare batteries and lots of film. A sturdy tripod with remote trigger or cable release is recommended, as are graduated and non-graduated neutral density and polarising filters if you have them.

N.B. A rain date may be arranged in the case of bad weather.

Please be aware that Hope Forest has a microclimate where it is often much cooler than in Adelaide. Before the workshop we recommend checking the local weather at  http://www.bom.gov.au/places/sa/hope-forest to help know what to expect and appropriate clothing for the day.

Additional Information

Spend a day amongst the rolling hills at Magpie Springs Cellar Door and Art Gallery south of Adelaide. Once settled, we will begin to extend your vision in the natural landscape. Learn to look at the parts that make up the whole, and how best to accentuate the landscape under different lighting conditions. After lunch, you will be encouraged to walk up the river and over the hills to create images practised and discussed during the first part of the day.
